Thirukoneshwaram is one of the Pancha Ishwarams (five abodes of Shiva) in Sri Lanka. While the original ancient temple was destroyed by the Portuguese in the 17th century, the modern structure remains a potent symbol of devotion.
Located inside Fort Fredrick, the temple is surrounded by the dramatic “Lovers’ Leap” cliff drop. Visitors can participate in poojas, admire the intricate architecture, and enjoy the stunning coastal scenery where the blue waters meet the rocky headland.
